[Falkirk, 04.04.2025] Falkirk MP Euan Stainbank has welcomed the rise in the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage, which will see 3,000 workers across Falkirk receive a long-overdue pay increase as of this month.

Thanks to action from the UK Labour Government, full-time workers on the National Living Wage will now earn an extra £1,400 a year, while apprentices in Falkirk will see their hourly pay rise by 18%.

The UK Labour Government has also tasked the Low Pay Commission—for the first time—to consider inflation and the real cost of living when recommending new rates. This means workers in Falkirk will benefit not just from political promises, but the lowest paid workers will have their payslip reflect economic reality.

In addition, the upcoming Employment Rights Bill will release an extra £600 a year to some of the lowest paid workers, by strengthening employee rights and making work pay.

Mr Stainbank said:

“Labour is delivering real change for working people. This pay rise is a direct result of a UK Labour Government that puts the interests of working people first.

“Around 3,000 Falkirk residents—some of the lowest paid in our local economy—are now seeing more money in their pockets, helping them cover the basics and plan for the future.

“For someone working full-time on the National Living Wage in Falkirk as I did until just a few years ago, this means a £1,400 pay rise. For young apprentices across the constituency, it’s an 18% boost—a real vote of confidence in our next generation of workers.

“This is just the start. Labour will continue working to end insecure work, raise living standards, and ensure every job in Falkirk is a good job.

“This is a government that gets it. We’re raising wages, improving rights, and backing the people of Falkirk every step of the way.”
