[Falkirk, 22.05.2025] Falkirk MP Euan Stainbank has criticised Nigel Farage for “vanishing on holiday” while Parliament debated the UK’s new trade deal with the EU — the most significant agreement since Brexit.

Mr Stainbank said:

“While Labour is fixing the damage left by the Tories’ Brexit betrayal deal, Farage is off sunning himself. The man who made a career out of shouting about sovereignty couldn’t even be bothered to turn up to scrutinise the new deal.

“Recess from Parliament is the only time MPs should be taking a break from Parliament. I’m looking forward to returning to Falkirk next week to work in my constituency and enjoy a wee break.

“The new deal, secured by the Labour Government, slashes red tape, lowers food and energy costs, and gives British businesses the certainty they’ve been demanding.

“This is a serious deal that delivers real benefits — not slogans, not stunts. Farage talked about taking back control. Labour is actually making it work.

“The agreement also opens up youth mobility opportunities, expands market access for Scottish producers, and removes routine border checks — all without reopening the Brexit debate.”
